Things to do
There is no shortage of activities, especially in the areas surrounding
Victoria Falls.
For the adrenalin-junkie; get your fix bungi jumping, white water
rafting or jetboating. The adventurous traveller, who knows their
limits, can enjoy abseiling, helicopter flights and elephant safaris.
For those wishing to experience the true African Bush, with 11% of
the country being National Parks, wild game and protected bush is
plentiful. Enjoy game-drives, walking or camping safaris, or stay
in any of the rustic accommodation on offer. For the not so adventurous,
relax on a houseboat on Lake Kariba, or take a hot air balloon flight
and enjoy cocktails while watching the sun set in the magnificent
African sky. |

What to wear
Cool, comfortable clothing is best suited for safari wear. Warm tracksuits
and sweaters may be needed in the evenings and early mornings. Comfortable
walking shoes are essential, as are sunglasses, sun block and a wide
brimmed hat. A 35 mm camera with a 100-300 mm lens and binoculars
are recommended. |

How to get there
Zimbabwe is served international by air Zimbabwe and other international
airlines. Its major points of entry by air are through the Harare
International Airport, Victoria Falls and Bulawayo. There are 10 points
of entry by road from the countries five neighbours. All have immigration
facilities. |

Currency
The local currency in Zimbabwe is the Zimbabwe Dollar. Local regulations
prohibit the import or export of local money. Travellers cheques and
major credit cards are honoured in all major hotels, car hire companies
and most shops. Cash is the easiest transaction commodity. |

Health
No inoculations are necessary, but it Zimbabwe is a malarial area.
It is essential that you consult with your Doctor about malaria prophylactics. |

Passports/Visas
For up to date information please consult the Zimbabwe High Commission.
All visitors are required to carry a passport that is valid for six
months beyond the intended length of stay.
Residents of the following countries do not require visas
for a visit of less than 90 days:
Commonwealth Dependent and Associated states (excluding Britain, Ghana,
India, Gambia, Papua New Guinea, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Pakistan and
Sri Lanka who do need visas), Fiji, Norway, Romania, South Africa,
Sweden and Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro)
Where applicable, visas should be obtained from your nearest Zambian
Consulate. Requirements for this are: three completed application
forms, two passport photos, proof of sufficient funds and onward travel
/ return ticket and a letter from host in Zambia. Generally, single
entry visas, valid for three months cost US$25 and multiple entry
visas, valid for six months, cost US$80, but validity and costs can
vary according to your nationality.
All visitors may be requested to show proof of sufficient funds and
onward travel / return ticket.

Taxes
For non-residents an airport tax of US$20 (in cash) is payable on
departure from Zimbabwe. Most flight tickets include this tax, please check with your agent. |
